A short, GPS-triggered walking tour that turns five blocks of downtown Juneau into the sharpest half-hour of your day off the ship. Put your headphones in, step out onto South Franklin, and walk. Each stop fires automatically as you reach it — no buttons, no maps, no standing in the cold reading placards. This is the warm-up. You'll meet the Red Dog Saloon and the Wyatt Earp six-shooter mounted under glass that the documented record strongly suggests cannot possibly be his. You'll find Patsy Ann, the bronze statue of the dog who, in life, met every ship that came into the harbor — deaf, supposedly, and yet always at the right pier at the right hour. You'll stand outside the Alaskan Hotel, the oldest continuously-operating hotel in Juneau, a 1913 Queen Anne three-story that has been quietly doing its job since the Wilson administration while everything around it burned down at least once. And by the closer, looking out across the Gastineau Channel toward the mountains, you'll understand why downtown Juneau is the lobby — and what's waiting for you 13 miles up the road.
